Celebrating the best in internal comms
It’s been a year to remember for internal communications professionals, and The Simplys provided the perfect opportunity to reflect on successes from around the community. We were proud to sponsor this important community event and even more pleased to see so many Unily customers recognized for their hard work.
Hosted by powerhouse UK-based consultancy, Simply Communicate, the awards shone a spotlight on some of the most inspiring campaigns, projects and people in the internal comms space. Amongst the winners, three Unily-powered entries earned themselves first place and highly commended:
- National Grid - first place for Best Intranet
- NATS Holdings - highly commended for Best Intranet
- EY - first place for Best Campaign
The awards didn’t just recognize the best project outcomes, but also the people behind their success. Two Unily customers were awarded for personal achievements, with Alzheimer’s Research UK’s Aoife Casson highly commended for best IC rising star, and GMI Construction’s Ian Cheveau highly commended for IC leader of the year.
National Grid – simply the best intranet of 2022
As the well-deserved winner of the Best Intranet of 2022, National Grid caught the attention of the Simply judges with Grid:Home. Since its launch in 2019, Grid:Home has gone on to win several awards on account of its strategic design and intelligent personalization. The platform offers both desktop and mobile experiences that support a significant deskless workforce with access to the systems and information they need to do their best work.
"The level of detail and care demonstrated throughout this project is really clear to see. The amount of research conducted with colleagues is great and has resulted in a highly personalized experience that really does meet people's needs. Overall, the project was well executed, resulting in a highly effective intranet for end-users."
National Grid is a leading energy transmission and distribution company, with more than 30k employees across Britain and the USA. Grid:Home’s use of targeting sets it apart from other platforms, with four different homepage variants designed to optimize the experience for different users.
This considered approach to personalization ensures that every employee enjoys an experience that’s relevant to their role, location, and interests. National Grid made sure to put its audience first, creating an information architecture that’s thematic and largely agnostic of company structure to make things intuitive and eliminate the need for prior knowledge about the organization to find content. Continuously climbing engagement and adoption metrics show that this close attention to detail has paid off.
"The team work so hard on creating a great experience for our people so we were absolutely delighted that Grid:home won best intranet at the Simplys. The Unily platform allows us to tailor the experience for different role types including our important field teams, people managers and new starters. The content management system is also really easy to use, and we love the powerful search and some of the features that are helping to drive engagement, such as the quiz functionality. Thanks go to our Customer Success Manager and the wider team for supporting us on our journey so far."
