About Arc'teryx

Arc'teryx is a global outdoor performance brand known for premium technical apparel, footwear, and equipment. As the organization continues to scale, it relies on Bird Nest to connect employees across headquarters and frontline retail locations while supporting the communications, learning, and engagement experiences that drive business performance.

The challenge: Cutting through complexity as Arc'teryx Scales

Growth creates complexity. As Arc'teryx expanded across corporate offices and retail stores worldwide, growth made it harder to keep every employee informed, connected, and ready to support priority initiatives. The business needed one trusted destination that could reduce friction, accelerate communication, and help employees act on the right information.

A traditional intranet wasn’t enough; Their lean communications team needed to move beyond static experiences and create experiences that would drive genuine excitement around major business moments, without the heavy lifting.

The solution: Creating One Destination

Arc'teryx created a digital basecamp for discovery, enablement, and connection. They named their Unily-powered, AI-native Employee Experience Platform Bird Nest, in homage to the brand's iconic logo.

Employees use Bird Nest for company news, leadership updates, personalized learning resources, launch communications, and community engagement. Whether they are commuting to the head office after testing new gear in the mountains or working on the shop floor of a Tokyo store, employees can cut through complexity, find trusted information, and act in the flow of work.

By bringing together communications, content, learning, and employee experiences in one platform, Arc'teryx created a scalable foundation that supports both day-to-day work and the company's biggest strategic initiatives. Bird Nest helps employees access what they need faster while giving communicators a powerful platform for delivering messages that matter.

Spotlight: Creating More Engaging Communications with Content Studio

As Arc'teryx continues to grow, employees are expected to keep pace with a product launches, leadership updates, learning content, and business communications. In a typical month, their team publishes around 24 articles to their homepage. The challenge isn't creating content; It's ensuring critical messages are seen, understood and acted on.

Using Content Studio by Unily, the team is reimagining how communications are delivered. Instead of expecting employees to work through dozens of updates, Arc'teryx can transform a calendar's worth of communications into a single employee catch-up podcast, creating a faster and more engaging way to stay informed. The approach supports the team's wider ambition to create communications that feel more like modern media than traditional corporate messaging.

The result is a more accessible employee experience that helps people stay aligned during rapid growth and change. By making relevant information easier to consume and harder to miss, Arc'teryx helps employees spend less time searching for updates and more time acting on them. Content Studio is estimated to save each Arc’teryx employee up to 84 minutes per month and delivers a 20% reduction in the time it takes the team to deliver critical communications.

"A lot happens in a month at Arc'teryx. Content Studio has helped us think through how to make critical updates easier to consume, easier to revisit, and harder to miss, whether someone's been away for a week or is brand new to the business. It's helping us keep employees engaged and informed."

Spotlight: Storytelling that Drives Engagement & Product Launch Success

Arc'teryx reimagined employee communications with a social-first storytelling strategy.

Instead of relying on traditional announcements, the team created content that felt authentic, timely, and built for employees, using leadership visibility, video, and compelling stories to generate excitement around key business initiatives and product launches. Bird Nest became the engine behind this approach, providing a central platform to reach employees with consistent, engaging content.

Leadership communications has been a stand-out success. Through a dedicated video series on Bird Nest, employees gain direct access to CEO Stuart Haselden's perspective on the company's vision, priorities, and strategy. The initiative has strengthened the connection between employees and leadership, driving a 48.3% increase in CEO profile impressions and a 30% increase in company page impressions since launch.

Arc’teryx’s social storytelling approach proved particularly effective during a major global product launch, System 0. Bird Nest served as the central destination for a two-week campaign that combined executive insights, product education, athlete stories, and media coverage in a single experience. Working closely with Learning & Development, Retail, and Guest Services teams, Arc'teryx created a dedicated hub that helped employees to access resources to help activate the launch.

“Product launches land when employees understand the story behind them. Bird Nest gives us one place to bring together leadership perspectives, product knowledge, athlete stories, and launch materials, so every employee feels part of the moment."

Carla Kadi, Senior Manager, Global Communications, Arc'teryx

Every campaign touchpoint, from email and digital signage to employee activations and social content, directed employees back to Bird Nest. This created a single source of truth and ensured employees experienced the same trusted story regardless of role or location.

The impact was significant. The launch generated homepage traffic that was 55% higher than the daily average while supporting an external campaign that secured more than 600 media stories and 1.4 billion media impressions. More importantly, it established a repeatable model for future launches, demonstrating how employee communications can drive alignment and business impact.

Spotlight: Belonging and collaboration with Arc'Social

As Arc’teryx has grown, creating meaningful opportunities for employees to connect has remained important.

For Arc’Social, Arc’teryx’s summer social bringing together teams from across different locations, Bird Nest became an extension of the event experience. Using Unily’s Communities capabilities, Arc’teryx created a dedicated space where attendees could find event updates, resources (FAQs), schedules and everything they needed to make the most of the event.

The response was huge. The community became the fourth most-visited page on Bird Nest, with 1,237 members and 588 returning users, showing the power of bringing in-person experiences and digital connection together.

“Arc’Social is all about bringing our teams together to connect, celebrate and ‘Live It’ (a core Arc’teryx value), in the Coast mountains. Creating a dedicated community on Bird Nest gave us a new way to reach attendees and bring the whole event experience into one place.”

Dan Lanigan, Senior Brand Content Specialist, Arc’teryx

Spotlight: Accelerating AI Adoption and Employee Enablement

As Arc'teryx prepares employees for the next era of work, Bird Nest plays a central role in helping teams build new skills and adopt AI with confidence. The challenge wasn't access to AI tools. It was helping employees in non-technical roles understand how AI could support their day-to-day work.

To make AI more relevant and accessible, Arc'teryx launched an AI Discovery Portal within Bird Nest. At the heart of the experience is a carousel of short-form video reels featuring AI champions from across the business. Rather than focusing on technical concepts, the videos show colleagues using AI to solve real problems, from uncovering insights in employee feedback to supporting program design and helping new sales representatives refine their communication skills.

Arcteryx AI adoption

The portal also highlights employee-led stories that turn AI adoption into something practical and achievable. One manager shares how he brought his team together to build an AI learning roadmap. Another team discusses the AI Task Force they created to tackle a shared business challenge. These stories help employees see what's possible by learning from peers who face similar challenges.

By grounding AI adoption in real experiences, Arc'teryx shifts the conversation away from hype and toward action. Employees can see how AI fits into their role, hear directly from trusted colleagues, and take the next step with greater confidence.

Launching the AI Discovery Portal inside Bird Nest accelerates adoption from day one. Employees discover AI resources in a familiar environment, while internal experts and strategic partners help scale awareness, share best practices, and keep momentum growing across the business.

Bird Nest supports employees at every stage of their journey. Dedicated Camps provide tailored experiences for different roles, levels of seniority, and onboarding milestones, helping employees access the most relevant content at the right time. During major launches and business initiatives, the platform becomes a central hub for training materials, supporting resources, and company communications, creating a seamless experience that reduces friction and accelerates readiness.

“Growth shouldn’t make finding what you need harder. Bird Nest gives our people one collective place to learn, grow, and find the resources they need for success.”

Tia Gilmour, Global Brand Communications Specialist, Arc'teryx

For a global workforce, this approach removes complexity. Whether employees work at headquarters or on the retail frontline, they have access to the same trusted information and learning resources when they need them. By connecting communications, learning, and enablement in a single platform, Arc'teryx helps employees build capability faster while creating a strong foundation for the future of work.
