Unite 26 | Enabling Innovation and Culture Change Through a Digital Platform at Velcro

Unily

Launching an ideas platform is easy, but getting people in every role and location to use it well is much harder. Discover how VELCRO Companies went from launching a tool to designing an experience that quadrupled idea submissions.

Session Overview

Organizations are surrounded by tools that promise automation, machine learning, and predictive analytics, but none of them reach their full potential without a focus on people. At VELCRO Companies, with about 3,000 employees worldwide, the initiative started with one question at a CEO town hall: Where can I submit a new product idea?

Cintia De Anda (VELCRO Companies) explains how the answer became the Ideation Hub, a central space on the Loop, the company’s Unily-powered employee experience platform. Anyone can submit, vote on, comment on, and track ideas, with a product expert behind each of 12 categories. A launch campaign across 17 locations, with QR codes for a workforce that’s 60% frontline operators, got ideas flowing.

Watch the session to go behind the scenes of how one person designed and scaled the program, and how gamified learning and development rewards drove voluntary participation far beyond the usual teams. You’ll see how operators became some of its most engaged participants, and how strategy and governance keep the best ideas moving.

What you’ll learn

Watch the session to discover:

  • Why launching a tool isn’t enough to drive innovation, particularly when ideas only come from people already close to R&D and product
  • How to build governance that respects every submitter, including a named expert and a two-week window to respond for every category
  • How to design a learning journey people want to join and strategies to include frontline and multilingual employees
  • What changes when people feel innovation is theirs to own
