Session Overview
Employees face a constant stream of emails, chats, and alerts, and comms teams are both producing the problem and drowning in it. With AI collapsing the cost of creating content, that stream is only getting louder, yet people’s capacity to absorb it hasn’t changed and so most messages aren’t getting read.
Content overload isn’t a personal failing. It’s a design outcome, which means you can fix it. The question was never “How do I get people to read more?” It’s “How do I get on the right side of the filter?”
This interactive session, led by Sharon O’Dea of Lithos Partners, treats attention as a budget rather than a resource and introduces the “Fletcher Test,” a simple check for whether a message can land at all. Through a real-world field workforce example and a hands-on exercise, it shows how comms teams can cull, reformat, and govern their content so it keeps working long after the cleanup.
A closing Q&A, hosted by Mel Ingraham, tackles the practical realities of doing less but better, from pushing back on low-value requests to handling messages you’re required to send.
