Unily Experiences

My name's Will Saville, I'm part of the Unily product team. For those of you who don't know, very quickly, Unily's an intranet platform that's built on top of the Microsoft Office 365 cloud.

We've been working really hard on mobility, we're really passionate about trying to help organizations make their intranet more mobile. Unily, as a product we're launching - we launched it with mobile devices for Apple, for Windows Phone, and for Android. So key for this year, we're going to be releasing some new features in Unily and one of those new features is a re-imagined user experience using the Windows 8.1 platform. This is a bit of a sneak peek, really, of what that experience is actually going to look like for you, the Unily customers.

So Windows 8.1 really allows us to build apps across multiple different forms and factors, so we focused on three different experiences, really: a desktop or a laptop experience, an experience for a tablet, in this case, a Surface device and also an experience for the Windows Phone platform. What we've actually done is we've taken the concept of Microsoft's universal app and used that universal app to build our intranet experiences for Unily. We've pretty much used the same techniques as we've used for all of our mobile experiences, so part of Unily is quite big for platform services and that includes things like connectors in to chat or to Yammer and an API that sits in front of Office 365. That allows us to consume content and information onto these different devices and really display them using Unily's innovative user experiences.

So I'm going to show you today some of the features that will be due out available for Unily customers very, very shortly. So first of all we have the Windows 8.1 experience for the Surface device or the Windows 8.1 tablet device and also for the desktop, obviously in this case, actually a laptop. So just to show you these experiences, let's start with the desktop experience.  Okay, so this is our 8.1 desktop experience for Unily Intranets, so this effectively gives Unily and its users the ability to run their intranet directly from a Windows app that sits on their laptop or their desktop device. This laptop happens to be touchscreen version but also would work with a mouse and keyboard as well. And you can see here, we can scroll through the different sections that we have on our intranet, there's our internal communications, our different web spaces, different sub-sites and SharePoint, the ability to go and search for documents that sit on top of Office 365 and SharePoint, and photo-based documents as well, People Search that's based on being able to find certain people, our Yammer social feeds and then the Unily blog reports as well.

So to show you what that looks like on a Surface now, okay so I have my Unily Intranet app here, just show you a bit more detail. As you can see, the actual experience has refracted itself to look just as good as it looked on the laptop or the desktop device. Very similar experience, really smooth and sleek way to go and actually find your whole content on the intranet. The actual sub-site experience, so if I want to drill down into a sub-site, maybe it's a project site on Sharepoint, again I've got a really nice clean experience that shows me all the documents that are part of the site, all the site members that are part of the sub-site and all of the lists and data that are part of that site and again, I can go and click here and look at somebody's profile, for example.

So this experience is also completely re-imagined on the Windows Phone as well. This phone is running Windows 8.1 and you can see here that it's a very, very smooth, very nice experience for Windows Phone users as well. I'm going to my different sections, I can look at my social information and I can go and search.

So that's our new Unily user experiences for the Windows 8.1 platform. It will be coming to you at some point in Q4 this year and hopefully it's something all of our end users will really appreciate and engage with. Thanks for watching. Cheers.
