The Royal Free Hospital, which has recently been in the news as the London hospital dealing with Ebola cases, was looking for an intranet solution that would improve communication across their organization. At the core they needed to have one place where staff from their three hospital sites, with various work styles and patterns, could come together to collaborate. Will Smart, Chief Information Officer, chose Unily because it was able to give them a way of managing top down messages much more effectively, as well as enabling people to communicate back up the organization.
During his talk at this year’s SMiLE Conference, Will discussed how “Unily was interesting… because they have an off the shelf framework that [they] could deploy and implement… in six weeks”. This quick turnaround time would enable them to start collaborating and communicating light speeds ahead of what’s typical in the public sector. Deploying Unily will allow them to easily target and personalize the messages employees receive depending on the building staff are walking into. This will ultimately streamline their communications amongst teams to improve productivity, particularly for their cyclical staff such as junior doctors.
